Rapid Action Packaging (RAP), a leading UK designer and manufacturer of sandwich and food-to-go packaging, will be showcasing its award-winning range of products at this year’s Packaging Innovations 2019 event (27 / 28 February).
This, it says, is part of its ongoing, and “unequivocal campaign” to remove avoidable plastics from its range and advise clients of the most environmentally responsible solutions going forward.
The event is designed for packaging buyers and specifiers to learn more about the latest trends in packaging, and this year has a focus on innovation and the “plastics debate”. This affords the perfect platform to help promote the sustainability message.
Graham Williams, RAP CEO, said: “We take sustainability very seriously. We have dedicated people in our organisation that focus solely on this, and it’s helping to shape our strategy of removing avoidable plastics from our supply chain and to divert it away from landfill and of course, our oceans.”
RAP’s products on display include FibreRap, HandRap, Hoot Food to Go, the MA Tray, Softpack BagRap and its groundbreaking Precious Planet range – which will feature in the event’s “Innovation Gallery”.
Precious Planet is produced entirely from agricultural waste, is 100% compostable and produced from leaves and stems left behind from harvest. Williams adds that it is of “significant importance”.
The board used can be recycled up to seven times, which offers a true, closed loop solution and is certified by both the Forestry Stewardship Council and the Programme for the Endorsement for Forestry Certification standards.
Julian Money, Founder of RAP, adds: “We exist at a critical time for packaging and it’s up to designers and manufacturers to not only innovate to ensure the conscious consumer has a widely recyclable product, but that we look one step ahead to ensure our planet isn’t bearing the brunt of compromise.
“Removing avoidable plastics isn’t just a throwaway phrase for us, it’s become the foundation of everything we do.”
