Ending the year on a high – RAP shortlisted for Starpack Industry Innovation Award

The Freshpack Plus sandwich carton wedge has been shortlisted in the Starpack Packaging Industry Innovation Awards 2017.

The awards were set up in 1958 by IOM Communications Ltd and are endorsed by The Packaging Society, a division of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3). They recognise excellence in packaging innovation, design and development, and judges focus on materials and processes used in projects.

Entries that are shortlisted for the awards receive either a bronze, silver, gold, greenstar, inclusive, team or unsung hero award, and the results will be announced at a ceremony taking place at 297 Euston Road, London, on 22nd February 2018.

Keeping food fresher for longer

With a unique packaging design the Freshpack Plus sandwich carton wedge keeps food fresher for 30% longer after packing, helping food businesses reduce waste and save money.

Other benefits of the design include:

  • It’s 10% lighter than any other packs on the market.
  • It reduces airflow through the joints in the glued carton board pack to near zero.
  • It runs on standard packaging equipment without adjustments.

Graham Williams, CEO at RAP, said: “With its focus on materials and processes used in design, Starpack Packaging Industry Innovation Awards represents everything that we’re passionate about at RAP.

“Freshpack Plus is unique to RAP and demonstrates how we adapt to meet market needs, and aim to improve food shelf-life, quality and sustainability.

“I’d like to wish all the shortlisted companies the best of luck in the awards.”
